The PSW Sinfonietta Orchestra is our talented junior string ensemble, featuring violin, viola, cello and double bass students from around South West WA. It offers an ideal way for young school age players to deepen their musical skills while making music with their friends.
Every Thursday during the school term, approximately 30 budding musicians gather at Bunbury Catholic College at 4:00 PM to rehearse under the guidance of their skilled conductor. The repertoire is as diverse as it is exciting, spanning classical masterpieces, lively fiddle tunes, and contemporary works. Regular performances at concerts, schools, Eisteddfods, fairs, and community events provide ample opportunities for the young musicians to showcase their talents.
Beyond musical growth, the orchestra fosters teamwork, discipline, leadership, and self-esteem, creating a nurturing environment where students can flourish both personally and artistically. It’s an excellent stepping stone to other orchestras and musical pursuits, enriching the cultural fabric of the community and the lives of its young members.
